Dr Rasa Silenas is board certified in both general surgery and plastic surgery. 7+ years educating plastic surgery residents; frequent lecturer on medical preparedness and plastic surgery procedures; 15+ pubs.
Dr Silenas earned her BA in Biology (Cum Laude) in 1974 from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio. In 1978, she obtained her MD from Medical College of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, PA. She completed a General Surgery Residency in 1983 at Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, Illinois and joined the US Air Force as a general surgeon. While in the Air Force, she served in a number of clinical, management, research and education positions. She completed a Plastic Surgery Residency in 1987 at Wilford Hall USAF Medical Center, Lackland AFB, Texas and advanced to become Chief, Plastic Surgery as David Grant USAF Medical Center in California, followed by Chair and Residency Program Director, Department of Plastic Surgery at Wilford Hall USAF Medical Center. She earned her MPH in 2006 from the Univ of Texas at Houston School of Public Health in Houston, Texas.
In 2003, Dr Silenas retired from the Air Force in the grade of Colonel after 20 years of service. She then served as Clinical Director, Texas Center for Medical Strategy, Training, and Readiness at Brooks City Base in San Antonio and as Medical Director, Texas A&M University System Health Science Center, in the Office of Homeland Security. In 2005 she joined the staff of the Wound Care Center at Methodist Hospital in San Antonio, Texas, where she provides wound care and hyperbaric medicine services.
