Dr. Pollock holds degrees in Zoology (BSc), Exercise Physiology (MPE), and has a PhD in Exercise/Environmental Physiology. He began his career in undersea and hyperbaric medicine in 1987 as the Diving Safety Officer for the University of British Columbia. He has since held positions as Assistant Professor at East Carolina University, Georgia Southern University, Duke University, and Florida State University. He has also been Research Associate at the Center for Hyperbaric Medicine and Environmental Physiology at Duke University. From 2007-2016 he was the Research Director at Divers Alert Network in Durham, North Carolina.
From 2016-2022, Dr. Pollock was Editor-in-Chief of Wilderness & Environmental Medicine. He has authored over 50 scientific publications.
