Inspection, Maintenance, & Documentation of Hyperbaric Chamber Acrylics (AC)

This program addresses the care of acrylic windows on clinical hyperbaric chambers. The curriculum includes inspection and documentation of acrylics including types of acrylic damage and what constitutes excessive damage. There is a competency exam and a skills laboratory on inspection and polishing of acrylic.

Objective

Upon completion of this activity participants should be able to apply techniques for protection, maintenance, inspection, minor repairs, and appropriate documentation of chamber acrylics.

Participants are responsible for their own travel, food, and lodging. A block of rooms is reserved at the Drury Plaza Hotel San Antonio Riverwalk at a special rate of $115 (plus 16.75% hotel tax) per night for a single room ($10.00 per each additional person). Travel Schedule

Lectures will begin on 8:00 a.m. you may check in starting at 7:30 a.m. The course ends at 12:00 noon. You should select a flight that departs after 2:00 p.m.

Certified Hyperbaric Technologist

This program has been reviewed and is acceptable for 4 Category A credit hours by the National Board of Diving and Hyperbaric Medical Technology.

When should I travel?

  • Arrival – Lectures begin at 8:00 a.m. on Monday morning so participants should plan to arrive in San Antonio on Sunday
  • Departure – The course ends at 12:00 p.m. on Friday.  If you plan to leave San Antonio on Friday, you should select a flight that departs after 2:00 p.m.

Daily Schedule

  • Registration – Registration begins at 7:30 a.m. on Monday
  • Start Time – Class will begin daily at 8:00 a.m.
  • Stop Time – Class will adjourn each day at about 5:30 p.m.  On Wednesday, class adjourns at 5:30.

Materials

  • Course notebook with lecture outlines and handout material (yours to keep)
  • Pen
  • Reference books will be available for your use during the course

Meals

  • Participants staying at the Drury Plaza should take advantage of the free continental breakfast offered by the hotel
  • Beverages will be provided throughout the day
  • Participants are responsible for all meals

Dress Code

Comfortable clothes are appropriate.  You will be spending many hours in the classroom each day.  Classroom tends to be cold so bring a sweater or long sleeve shirt to class.

Upon Course Completion

Upon completion of the course participants will a letter of completion from International ATMO, Inc.  The Undersea and Hyperbaric medical Society will provide CME certificates to physicians.  Attendees who leave prior to the completion of the course are not eligible to receive a course completion certificate.

Parking

Most hotels in the downtown area have fees for parking.  Parking garages in the downtown area range in price beginning at $9 and up per day.  Hotel parking is sometimes more expensive.  If you are driving from your hotel to the Drury Plaza Hotel daily, you may park in the Drury’s valet parking garage for $10 per day.  Parking fees are the responsibility of the student.
